Science on Tap: Exploring Quantum Weirdness with Kids 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM
Science on Tap: Exploring Quantum Weirdness with Kids
Presented by: Yogesh Joglekar, Associate Professor, Physics
In science and philosophy, the ability to observe and its effect on the object of interest were treated as two unrelated topics. Quantum theory, a cornerstone of modern electronics, shows us that the two are fundamentally connected. I will introduce this connection - quantum weirdness - and its tangible consequences - electronics, quantum computing, and photosynthesis - in daily life. Although considered highly abstract and mathematical, this topic is a highly fertile research area for high school kids. I will share some of my experiences.
5:00 p.m. – Socializing – Light Appetizers & Cash Bar
5:40 p.m. – Presentation, Q & A to follow
There is no charge to attend the event. Seating is limited so please register today. Sponsored by the School of Science & the School of Science Alumni Association.
